Driver arrested for hit-and-run that killed 70-year-old pedestrian in Forsyth County
FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. - A man has been arrested for the death of 70-year-old Joaquin Vega of Alpharetta, who was struck while crossing the road in the area of Atlanta Highway and Tidwell Road.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office says deputies found a vehicle last night matching the description of the one involved in the 6400 block of Atlanta Highway. The windshield had been replaced and there was evidence that the driver side had been cleaned. Deputies were able to obtain the broken, bloody windshield and trace the car to 48-year-old Agapito Romo Vazquez.
Vazquez was arrested and charged with homicide by vehicle in 1st degree, felony hit-and-run, and driving without a license. Additional charges are pending.

A hit-and-run driver is wanted in Forsyth County after a 70-year-old man was killed while crossing a road on Oct. 3.
According to Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Joaquin Vega of Alpharetta was walking across the road near Atlanta Highway and Tidwell Road when he was struck.
Mr. Vega's nephew was across the street at the time of the incident. He says that his uncle was struck by a small 4-door car or SUV.
Vega was found in the middle of the road and was pronounced dead at the scene.
