1 critically injured after crash on I-75 NB in Cobb County Monday afternoon
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - All northbound lanes of Interstate 75 have reopened after a crash near Mount Paran Road caused all traffic to come to a standstill during the afternoon rush Monday.
SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene around 5 p.m. and spotted emergency vehicles blocking all lanes.
The front end of a vehicle appeared to have smashed into the back of a tractor-trailer.
Georgia State Patrol told FOX 5 that a gray Jeep Wrangler was following a white semi-truck too close when the Wrangler struck the rear of the truck.
According to witnesses and evidence at the scene, it does not appear that the driver of the Wrangler attempted to stop. The driver of the Jeep was extracted from the vehicle by Atlanta Fire and was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
No other information about the driver was released.
One lane of traffic was opened around 5:30 p.m. with the busy interstate highway reopening completely an hour later.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
