Burgers with Buck: Mystic Grill honors injured Covington officer
COVINGTON, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - The signature burger at Mystic Grill in Covington is named for and modeled after the famous clock tower on the historic downtown square. The clock tower is a well-known local landmark in its own right, but it is also a bit of a celebrity around the country and for that matter the world, thanks to its prominent role in the television series, The Vampire Diaries.
Vampire Diaries fans have been known to travel from far and wide to see the clock tower and to visit Mystic Grill, also made famous in the CW series.
So why would #BurgersWithBuck not feature such a burger? There’s actually a really, really good reason.
For two days only, Mystic Grill is serving another burger, and this one has a purpose much higher than the iconic clock tower.
The #BackTheBlue burger at Mystic Grill is back by popular demand. It is a tribute burger, honoring Covington Police Officer Matt Cooper who was shot and seriously wounded in the line of duty back in September.
The Back the Blue Burger is made with a special in-house blend of ribeye and pork chop and topped with a house made blue cheese cream sauce. They add, thick cut, candied bacon, sautéed shallots, and a fried blue cheese ball and a roasted tomato on top.
The Back the Blue Burger is only available for a very limited time. You can enjoy one during dinner on Friday and Saturday (12/14-15), and a portion of the proceeds from every one sold will go to the family of Officer Cooper.
It's is truly a win-win.
Officer Copper continues to recover and rehabilitate at Atlanta’s Shepherd Center, and his condition continues to improve. His family and his entire community is looking forward to him returning home.
