Burgers with Buck: Tiny Lou's at Hotel Clermont

When it comes to Atlanta’s oldest strip club, The Clermont Lounge, it seems everyone has either a story or an opinion. What cannot be denied is that it has become a well-known landmark and a favorite spot for celebrity sightings.

I know what you’re thinking, this is Burgers With Buck, not Blondie With Buck, right?  While you are correct, it’s hard to feature the Hotel Clermont without at least mentioning their infamous downstairs neighbor.

While Clermont Lounge thrived for years, the Hotel Clermont fell into a seedy state of disrepair. In fact, like much of Atlanta’s history, it was almost razed, but thanks to some forward-thinking visionaries, Hotel Clermont was not restored to its former glory but rather restored to better than it ever was before.

They captured the perfect blend of recognizing its past, but with all the modern accouterments to take it into the future and beyond.

A good example is Tiny Lou’s Restaurant which is named after the popular 1950’s dancer in the Clermont Motor Hotel’s “Gypsy Room,”. It sounds like she was Blondie, before Blondie. I digress.

Tiny Lou’s is described as a French-American brasserie, and apparently, that means a place that serves a really good burger. Chef Jeb Aldrich runs the show and his Clermont Burger is one of the underrated stars. It starts with two thin, house ground, smash burger style patties that are a blend of brisket, short rib, and chuck. It is topped with balsamic cured onions, bacon jam, pickled green tomatoes, gruyere cheese, and bibb lettuce. One more thing, it is served with a heaping helping of delicious fries.
