Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria opens second location in Dunwoody
DUNWOODY, Ga. - You’ve heard of eating cold pizza for breakfast, right? It’s something the Good Day Atlanta team enjoys regularly. So imagine our surprise when we realized our Monday morning pizza wasn’t cold…it was “coal”-ed!
Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria recently opened its second location, this one at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody, right next to Urban Outfitters. Max’s first opened in 2009 in the Centennial Olympic Park district, featuring the only genuine coal-burning oven in the state as a way to cook up perfect pizzas. Hungry guests can create their own pie with a variety of toppings ranging from pepperoni and meatballs to goat cheese and capitol, and Max’s also serves up specialty pizzas, including the Fontina & Funghi (with Fontina cheese, wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, and oregano) and the Bianca, topped with ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses.
Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken is always on the hunt for the best pizza in Georgia (hey – that could be a new segment! Pizza With Paul?), and he spent the morning at the new Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria in Dunwoody to try it out!
