An accident involving a wrong-way driver on South Fulton Parkway has left three people dead.

Investigators say before 2 Monday morning a car started heading east in the westbound lanes. It collied head-on with another car in between Derrick Road and Rosewood Place in Union City.

Fire officials tell FOX 5 the male driver of the car going the wrong way and a male passenger in the other car have both died. Medics transported the female driver of the other car to the hospital, where she has now been pronounced dead.

Officials also say a third vehicle was unable to avoid the crash scene. It suffered minor damage. No one in the third car was hurt.

South Fulton Parkway's westbound lanes were closed near the crash site for hours. One eastbound lane was also blocked off.

Fire fighters from the City of South Fulton and Chattahoochee Hills assisted Union City in working the accident.
