Airport employee accused in fight with NFL player appears in court
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - A man accused of attacking Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones at Atlanta's airport made his first appearance in court Tuesday morning.
The attack happened last Tuesday, July 10, in Concourse B at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. According to Atlanta Police, Jones confronted ABM Industries employee Frank Ragin after the facility-service worker made a "gesture."
Police said words were exchanged when Jones responded to the gesture, leading to a "verbal altercation," during which Ragin struck Jones with a closed fist, causing a cut to Jones' face. After the hit, investigators said Jones defended himself and pushed Ragin to the ground. At some point in the fight, Ragin hit a woman who was with Jones, hurting her hand.
Ragin was arrested on two counts of battery.
Tuesday morning, FOX 5 was the only station present for Ragin's first appearance. He arrived in the courtroom in a wheelchair, wearing several body casts, appearing to be in pain.
The Clayton County judge granted Ragin a $7,000 bond and ordered him to stay away from Jones as well as the female victim. Ragin told the judge he'd like to meet with a court-appointed attorney.
Ragin's next hearing is scheduled for August 9.
