Animal control officers rescue pups from rising flood waters
CEDARTOWN, Ga. - Heavy rains have created some hazardous conditions not only for humans but for some animals. That was the case Tuesday afternoon in Cedartown where animal control officers were called in to save three dogs from fast-rising waters. The whole rescue was caught on camera.
The dramatic video recorded from the body camera of Polk County Animal Control Officer J.J. Jackson shows three terrier mix dogs in a pen in a backyard along Prior Street. The dogs’ owner called animal control when she was unable to reach the dogs at the back of her property. The dogs were seen treading water which had reached far above their heads.

Animal Control Officer Jeremy Guttery told FOX 5 News when he reached the dogs they were scared and exhausted, but they managed to get all three dogs to safety.
Neighbors said the neighborhood frequently floods in heavy rain. Five inches fell there on Tuesday alone and the forecast doesn’t show a dry day for a while, so residents are preparing.
Less than a mile away near Adamson Street, Pryor Station, and West Avenue, video sent to FOX 5 News by store clerk Rosa Alvarado shows a woman driving a small car wading in chest-deep water to safety.
