Atlanta Police officer suspended following indictment
ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - An Atlanta Police officer has been suspended just a day after a grand jury indicted her for a car crash which caused a woman to lose her arm.
Officer Dejoira Phillips will have to attend a hearing with Chief Erika Shields next week. At that point, the chief will decide where she will remain suspended with or without pay during the court process.
This all centers around an accident last February on Peeples Street and Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard. Officer Phillips was responding to a call when she ran a red light and struck the car driven by Lisa Williams. Officer Phillips was in a marked patrol car at the time and her emergency lights were in use.
Medics rushed both drivers to the hospital. Doctors had to amputate William’s left arm.
