Atlanta renames street after community leader
ATLANTA - The city of Atlanta has renamed East Lake Boulevard Southeast to Eva Davis Way, all to honor one of the first people to call East Lake Meadows home.
Davis was a community leader and served many roles, including president of the East Lake Meadows Resident Association for more than 30 years.
Council members gathered to speak on future renovations for the area following the name change.
Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms also spoke at the event on Friday.
She said this is only the beginning of groundbreaking changes for residents.
"This has been a central place of community in our city for such a very long time, and to have affordable housing that's also great housing that's a mixture of incomes is something we want to see in Atlanta," Bottoms said.
The mayor says regardless of one's income, everyone deserves affordable housing.
