Car of missing 78-year-old Sandy Springs man found in park

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - Police are performing a massive searching for a missing 78-year-old man whose vehicle was found at a Sandy Springs park.

Larry Cavanaugh was last seen Sunday. Sandy Springs Police said he was driving his gold BMW 740.

Thursday, authorities swarmed Morgan Falls Overlook Park located 200 Morgan Falls Road along the Chattahoochee after an officer found that car parked near the boat ramp.

SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene just after 4:30 p.m. and found multiple agencies searching by land and water.

“We're just searching everywhere. So, we searched around the wood line, paths, everywhere, and now, as a last resort, we're searching the river,” said Sgt. Sam Worsham.

Police said they also launched drones to search from the air. They also have brought in K-9 units and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources is assisting along the river.

Officers said they will continue to search until options are exhausted.
