Cobb County to dedicate park to fallen Marine
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - The 21-year-old Cobb County Marine Lance Corporal who was killed during a shooting rampage in Chattanooga, Tennessee will receive a permanent memorial in his honor in his hometown.
Marine Lance Corporal Squire “Skip” Wells Park will officially be dedicated sometime in early 2017. The park, known currently as Bells Ferry Park, is located at 2334 Bells Ferry Road.
This week, a proclamation was presented to Cathy Wells, his mother about county wishing to honor his life and service to his country.
Skip Wells attended Bells Ferry Elementary School, Daniell Middle School, and graduated in 2012 from Sprayberry High School, where he was a member of the JROTC and band.
Wells and four other service members were killed by a gunman in an ambush at a Naval reserve and recruitment center in Chattanooga on July 16, 2015.
