Cory Booker rallies for Stacey Abrams in Atlanta
ATLANTA - Democratic power player Sen. Cory Booker visited Atlanta Sunday to campaign for Democratic candidate for governor Stacey Abrams.
Speaking at a meet and greet, Booker said Abrams inspires him "like no one else ever has."
"When darkness comes, light workers emerge," he told the crowd. "When there’s a dragon in our midst, God always brings us the dragon slayer”
Booker is New Jersey's first African-American U.S. senator. Abrams had previously been endorsed by former presidents Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter, former Vice President Joe Biden, and former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Abrams and her Republican opponent Brian Kemp are in a close race for the governor's office.
Saturday, Kemp was endorsed by President Donald Trump on Twitter, with the president saying Kemp would be a "great governor."
If Abrams wins, she would make history as the country's first black female governor.
