Court date set for Henry County foster parents in toddler's death
HENRY COUNTY, Ga. - The Henry County foster parents charged with the murder of a toddler in their care was back in court on Tuesday.
A judge set the trial date of October 30 for Jennifer Rosenbaum, 27, and her husband, 26-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum. Both are charged in connection to the November 2015 death of their 2-year-old foster child, Laila Marie Daniel.

Police said Mrs. Rosenbaum, a former county commission candidate, called 911 on Nov. 17. 2015 to report Laila was choking on a piece of chicken. The toddler was rushed to Piedmont Henry Hospital and declared dead in the emergency room. Police later said they determined Mrs. Rosenbaum struck the child in the abdomen with such force that she suffered internal injuries, contributing to her death. Investigators also said she and her 4-year-old sister suffered broken bones, deep bruises, and internal bleeding while in the Rosenbaum’s care.

The 2-year-old case has suffered from a series of delays with the last one earlier this year being the need to appoint a special outside prosecutor after the newly seated Henry County District Attorney found his office to have conflicts in the case which would prevent a fair trial.
