Dead body found off Newnan road

NEWNAN, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Police are investigating a body that has been found off of a Newnan road.

The discovery happened Wednesday afternoon along Postal Parkway , as city workers were helping someone change a tire. 

The wooded area is surrounded by busy shopping centers off Highway 34. Numerous passerby stopped and parked, and a crowd of onlookers surrounded officers investigating the scene. 

Officers from Newnan Police were on scene to assist the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which is handling the death investigation.

Investigators are working to determine the man's identity and cause of death. There are no signs of trauma to the body upon initial inspection, officers said. 

Authorities hope the man's identity is confirmed in the next two days.
