DeKalb County Board debates move for Confederate monument
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - DeKalb County Commissioners met Tuesday to discuss moving the county's Confederate monument.
The controversial statue is located in downtown Decatur near the Old Dekalb County Courthouse.
Protestors have called for its removal for months and in January, the county agreed to relocate the statue.
However, they've struggled to find a new location and Tuesday morning they discussed a proposal to move the monument to a less prominent part of Decatur square. But some oppose the moving saying that's just not acceptable.
Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson has proposed creating a task force of DeKalb County residents to research different ways to address the controversial monument.
