Two boaters are missing and at least one other was rushed to the hospital after two boats collided on Lake Lanier Wednesday, authorities said.

Officials said they received a 911 call around 4:55 p.m. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said a Bass-type fishing boat and a 23-foot cabin cruiser crashed on the water.

The two boaters on the fishing boat were missing after the crash. The three boaters on the cruiser suffered various injuries. At least one was taken to North Fulton County Medical Center.

DNR, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the Hall County Dive Team, and the Army Corp of Engineers assisted in the search Wednesday. That search was called off because of the dark but will resume Thursday morning along with aviation support.

Officials said the water around the crash was 35 to 80 feet deep with heavy vegetation and trees on the bottom.
