Dunwoody thief steals diamonds in smash and grab
DUNWOODY, Ga. - Dunwoody police are on the lookout for a man who smashed a case at a jewelry store and took off with diamonds.
Police say security cameras caught a suspect walking into a Jared, Gallery of Jewelry on the 4500 block of Ashford Dunwoody Road with a hammer in his pants Thursday.
The footage shows the man pulling out the hammer and smashing the display case that held loose diamonds.
Police say the suspect grabbed three or four diamonds, then ran out to the parking lot to hand them over to another suspect.
The suspect is described as a man between the age of 20 to 25, around 5-feet-11-inches tall with a distinct dark blemish on his right arm.
He was wearing a black sweatshirt, gray pants with a white stripe, white shoes, and a black ball cap.
