FBI: dangerous robbers target businesses
ATLANTA - The FBI Atlanta is warning the public about a group of violent armed robbers targeting businesses in the metro Atlanta area.
“These guys are scary,” FBI spokesperson Kevin Rowson said.
According to the FBI, the crew has hit nine businesses in one month.
“They’re getting more and more violent each time,” Rowson said.
From Union City to their most recent heist this past weekend at a Waffle House in Cherokee County, Rowson said the criminals are stopping at nothing to get what they want.
“The shot towards employees and customers during their Conyers heist,” Rowson said. “In another one, they punched an employee in the face because they believed she wasn’t moving fast enough.”
The crew has hit four Family Dollar stores, two Waffle House restaurants as well as a CVS and Walgreens pharmacies.
“We are just lucky that no one has been killed, which is our greatest fear,” Rowson said.
The FBI said finding this group is at the top of their priority list.
“We believe they have every intention of striking again and we can’t pin down a pattern to when, why or where they will hit next,” Rowson said.
What’s unique about these armed robbers, Rowson said, is the fact that they wear the same clothing in every single heist.
“The most distinct item is a sweatshirt that says ‘Been Broke Before,’” Rowson said. “That’s not very common, so someone has to know who that belongs to and we just hope they would come forward before someone gets seriously hurt.”
The FBI says they believe there are four people part of the crew.
“We think they are rotating who goes on which one and we think they switch who wears what clothes,” Rowson said. “But it’s very possible there’s more than four apart of this.”
