Forsyth County deputy dies on first day of training
FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Forsyth County is mourning the death of one of their deputies this week.
Deputy Spencer Englett suffered a traumatic medical event and collapsed during training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
Medics rushed him to the hospital, but doctors were unable to revive him.
They said he was 29-years-old and recently married.
The sheriff's office describes him as an exemplary deputy who served with distinction and honor.
Friday, flags in the county were flown at half-staff to remember the Englett.
The sheriff said Spencer was promoted posthumously to deputy first-class.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday.
