A metro Atlanta sheriff is stepping up in a big way to help deter the next generation from ending up on the wrong side of the law.

Fulton County Sheriff Ted Jackson is hosting the ninth annual Helping our Youth Prosper and Evolve (or H.Y.P.E.) conference this weekend. Sheriff Jackson said it’s a way to give young people the necessary tools they need to advance and reach their full potential.

“I am also confident the information provided will help them make good, sound decisions as they navigate through the tough years of middle and high school," Sheriff Jackson said.

The Fulton County Sheriff's Office Community Outreach Chaplaincy Program is leading the program. Several area officials and influencers will participate. There will also be panel discussions for parents.

The conference will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Atlanta Metropolitan State College located at 1630 Metropolitan Parkway Southwest in Atlanta. Registration is at 7:3 a.m.  or can be done online at fultonsheriff.net.
