Visitation Tuesday for fallen Gwinnett County officer
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Visitation is taking place Tuesday for a Gwinnett County Police officer shot and killed in the line of duty.
Officer Antwan Toney was shot while responding to a 911 call about a suspicious vehicle behind Shiloh Middle School Saturday afternoon. Police said Officer Toney died at the hospital as a result of his injuries. Investigators said the bullet missed the vest worn by the 30-year-old officer.

Among the steady stream of well-wishers paying their respects were Gwinnett County residents and business owners.
"It's just sad that people don't take life," Florist Greg Westmoreland said. "You know it's just precious everyday."
Florist Debbie Kiker delivered flowers for the fallen officers.
"It's an honor to make the flowers for him and it's very sobering to see this and we wanted to pay our respects," she said.
Toney's visitation will be held at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Peachtree Corners from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville.

Officer Toney was six days shy of his third anniversary with the Gwinnett County Police Department. He had been with the department since October 26, 2015, and graduated from the Gwinnett Police Department’s 94th Academy on April 21, 2016, along with 25 other cadets.
This was Officer Toney’s first job as a sworn law enforcement officer, Chief Butch Ayers said. Prior to joining the department, he worked as a security guard.
Officer Toney is originally from Southern California, where his family still lives.
