GSP: Man dies trying to get on MARTA bus
BROOKHAVEN, Ga. - A man was hit and killed while trying to get on a MARTA bus Thursday morning.
Georgia State Troopers say just after midnight the victim, described as a white male in his 40s, ran across Buford Highway apparently hoping to board MARTA bus #39. The bus was heading north and had just pulled out of the stop at North Cliff Valley Way. Witnesses told troopers after crossing the six-lane road, the man started banging on the rear driver's side of the bus. Somehow he caught under the rear tire and died at the scene.
The identity of the man killed isn't known. Troopers are looking into the possibility that he might've been drunk, saying they found alcohol at the scene.
For hours, Buford Highway was closed in both directions from North Cliff Valley Way to Briarwood Road.
