Major pet food donation to Atlanta animal shelters

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A major food donation to several Atlanta-area animal shelters.

A semi-truck rolled into the city Friday carrying nearly two-dozen palates of pet food for area rescues.

That's more than 2,000 bags of dog food and 2,000 cans of cat food.

The donation, coming from Solid Gold Pet Food.

The CEO of the company said she was moved to donate after learning about hundreds of dogs that were rescued from a Georgia puppy mill last month.

The company got in touch with some area shelters and arranged the donation.

Shelters receiving the food include Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, Paws Atlanta, Releash Atlanta, and Lifeline Animal Project.
