Man dies after car slams into gas station
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - A driver has died after his car flew off Lawrenceville Highway, struck two parked cars and a pedestrian, and finally landed in a building.
Lawrenceville police say the deadly crashed happened at 10:05 Monday morning at the Exxon gas station on Lawrenceville Highway and Johnson road.
Police are not sure why the man, identified as 55-year-old Oluyinka Akinseinde, lost control of his car.
"Right now it looks like it may have been a medical emergency, but we do not know yet until an autopsy is done," Lawrenceville Lt. Jay Parker remarked.
A customer who had just walked outside of the store was also struck. She was rushed to the hospital with injuries.
Gas station owner Shafquat Chowdhury says its a miracle that only the driver died.
"Few seconds here or there, there could have been more causalities," Chowdhury said. "It could have been so much worse."
Police were not ready to release the driver's name.
