A 43-year-old man was gunned down in front of his northern Gwinnett County home early Friday morning.

“I heard two loud gunshots, at first I thought it was gunshots and thought maybe firecrackers,” said Tia Young, the victim’s wife.

People living in the house on Montauk Hill Drive in unincorporated Buford heard the gunfire just after midnight. When they went outside to see what was going on they found their loved one dead. Young was shot multiple times.

“His key was actually in the door. He just didn’t turn it,” said Jeremy Hoover, nephew of the victim.

Detectives at the scene said Young was killed as he returned home from a security job at Lenox Square. Investigators have no motive for the crime, nor do they have a suspect description.

“He worked about 60 to 80 hours a week. Had his own business. Just devastating to see someone do something like this to someone so genuine,” said Hoover.

Police canvassed the area to see if anyone saw a car leave or a suspicious person in the area. They also interviewed the family, hoping to see if there's anything in the victim's past that might cause him to be a target. But police said the home doesn't have a history that would leave them to believe something like this could happen here.

Tia Young said her husband and father of three boys was shot in the head and chest and she doesn’t have any idea why.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gwinnett County Police Department.
