Police identify missing woman whose body was found in woods
ATLANTA - Atlanta Police have identified a woman who was reported missing before her body was found in a wooded area early Wednesday.
Thursday morning, police identified the victim as 24-year-old Laneica Nelson.
Police were called to the 3700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in southwest Atlanta around 2:40 a.m. Wednesday by a man who said his girlfriend, Nelson, had been missing since Tuesday.
The man told detectives that he had found some of Nelson's clothing while he was searching for her. Not long after, officers found Nelson's body about 500 yards away, in a wooded area near Atlanta Heights charter school.
Police said Nelson showed signs of blunt force trauma.
