New details about Cobb County student arrested over weapon at school
COBB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - New details were released Monday about a Cobb County high school student who was arrested Friday after bringing a weapon to school and prompting a lockdown
Rolando Jose Moore Figueroa, 18, was arrested on the campus of Wheeler High School. Officials confirmed he was a student at the school.
According to the police warrant, he was carrying a loaded 9mm Glock handgun in his backpack.
Since Figueroa rode on the school bus with the weapon, he's charged with felony bus hijacking and boarding a bus with a concealed weapon. That is in addition to possession of a handgun without a valid carry license and carrying a weapon in a school safety zone.
Police said the gun was loaded with seven rounds of ammunition.
The school was placed on a “code red” lockdown while authorities investigated Friday.
