Counter protesters outnumber neo-Nazis at rally in Newnan

Several arrests were made before the white nationalist rally.
GBI Director Vernon Keenan told FOX 5 that counter-protesters were arrested for blocking roads and wearing masks.

One of city leaders goals' was trying to prevent the kind of violence that's been seen at similar rallies but people in the city were still concerned.

It has been the talk of the community for a month now, but Friday residents and business owners alike found ways to show support for their city and their community.
Everywhere in town, it was obvious preparations were underway as the city braces for Saturday’s events.
The Conyers Police Department said that it sent a contingent of officers to reinforce Newnan, doubling up with their officers on patrol, the department said on Facebook.

In March, the city of Newnan accepted the commander of the National Socialist Movement's request for a pavilion rental. The group plans to meet at the Greenville Street Park Saturday afternoon. Many of the area businesses including Kendra’s Clothing Boutique will close Saturday but stayed open late Friday to compensate for the lost revenue.
The public needs to be aware there were be several detours and road closures in the area. The city plans to announce those at a press conference on Saturday afternoon.
