Suspect sketch released after off-duty GSU officer shot
ATLANTA - An off-duty Georgia State University police officer was shot Sunday night during an attempted robbery, according to Atlanta Police. Officials released a sketch of one of the suspects on Thursday.
Authorities said the shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Donnelly Ave in southwest Atlanta.
Investigators said the female officer and a friend were walking down Donnelly Avenue when two guys, one on foot and the other riding a bicycle, tried to hold them up. Atlanta police said the guy on the bike started shooting.
According to police, before help arrived, the officer pulled her weapon and fired back. She was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital and is expected to survive.
