A suspect is in custody after a showdown between a driver and Marietta police that shut down Interstate 75 southbound in Cobb County.

Officials told FOX 5 that an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop Friday morning after noticing the vehicle and driver matched the description of a suspect in an armed robbery at a Walmart on Cobb Parkway.

When they tried to get the driver to stop, police say he did not immediately pull over. He eventually stopped at the side of the road between Windy Hill and Interstate 285.

Georgia Department of Transportation cameras showed police with guns drawn toward the car on the side of the road.

The standoff lasted for over an hour, but eventually the suspect was arrested.

Police say the suspect was taken into custody without any injuries, but he's currently at a local hospital being evaluated "due to his behavior on scene."
