Police arrest CVS robbery suspect after chase

Chamblee Police say they arrested a man just a few seconds after he allegedly committed armed robbery.

On the night of Oct. 22, police responded to reports of a robbery at the CVS on the 5700 block of Peachtree Boulevard.

They quickly spotted 24-year-old Rodney Garvin, who fled after being ordered to stop.

An officer gave chase on foot, while another who was driving bumped into him with his police car, officials said.

Garvin was arrested. Police found a Glock .45 caliber handgun, ski mask and stolen cash in his possession.

"This individual posed an imminent threat to officers and the public at large and was fleeing toward a residential area while armed with a handgun and having just committed a violent felony," Chamblee Interim Chief of Police Mike Beller said.

Garvin has been charged with armed robbery, obstruction and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
