Police: Body found inside burning car in East Point
EAST POINT, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A death investigation continues in East Point. Police say they found a body in a burned car on Connally Court early Wednesday morning.
Neighbors called 911 after midnight. They say they heard a loud noise.
“I heard a boom,” says Ayanna Lowery. “I thought it was a tree falling because we have so many trees. Something just told me to look out the front window, just to make sure it wasn't a tree.”
But, Lowery saw a car on fire.
“It was just explosions. There were just small explosions, just one after the other.”
Neighbors who looked on did not know there was a body inside of the vehicle.
“It's kind of weird to see a burning car in the middle of the night,” Rolando Gray told FOX 5 News. “You kind of figure something like that going on to get rid of some evidence or something.”
Gray also says the blasts shook his home.
FOX 5 has been touch with the medical examiner's officer and police department. We're told the body has not been identified. Investigators don't know if the person who died is a man or a woman. They want to know if the person died before or during the fire, and who might have been involved.
Anyone with information about this case should call East Point Police.
