Police: Fisherman finds body in Yellow River
NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. - Police are working to identify a body that was discovered trapped in debris in the Yellow River in Newton County on Saturday night.
Officials say that a local resident was fishing in the river when he discovered what he thought was a body about a one-quarter of a mile south of Rocky Plains Road.
After contacting 911, authorities confirmed that it was a body and removed it on Sunday morning due to visibility.
The remains have now been transported to the Newton County Coroner’s Office and Morgue.
The body is currently unidentified and there is no cause of death or manner determined at this time.
