Police: Innocent victim killed at Buckhead nightclub
ATLANTA - Police say a man killed in a Buckhead parking lot appears to be an innocent victim. The 36-year-old was shot dead early Friday morning, just outside the Buckhead Loft, a nightclub, on Tula Street.
Police and witnesses told FOX 5 around 1 a.m. a fight broke out inside the club. At least one person went to their car, got a gun and started shooting at the club entrance. Investigators said five or more rounds were fired. One of the bullets hit a man who was in the parking lot when he was shot.
Officers on the scene tried to save the man's life. Sadly, doctors later pronounced him dead at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Witnesses said when the gunfire rang out, it was chaos inside the club as people ran for cover. Some people escaped through the back entrance while others hid in the bathrooms.
Detectives said the fight that led to the shooting might be gang-related. They interviewed a number of witnesses and planned on reviewing surveillance video hoping to piece together what happened.
At this point, police don't have a description of the one or more gunmen.
