Police: Floyd Mayweather's bodyguard shot outside Buckhead hotel

Atlanta Police are investigating a shooting near an upscale hotel in Buckhead early Monday morning that left a bodyguard for Floyd Mayweather in the hospital.

According to police, three vehicles were returning to the Intercontinental from a club on Buford Highway when another vehicle pulled up next to them and opened fire, striking one of the people inside. who police have identified as Gregory Larosa. It happened around 3 a.m. at the intersection of Peachtree Road and Highland Drive. 

Investigators said all three vehicles took off during the shooting and reported being followed. They told police after losing the vehicle that was following them, the victim's vehicle drove to Grady Memorial Hospital.

According to police, the victim said he's the bodyguard for boxer Floyd Mayweather. He's being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. 

Police said the shooting doesn't appear to be a random act, and the shooter was targeting the vehicle that the bodyguard was in. 

According to his Instagram story, Mayweather apparently arrived in Atlanta on Sunday. Police don't think he was in the same car as his bodyguard during the shooting but said he was possibly in one of the other vehicles in the caravan.
