Police: Woman in custody after husband shot to death
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - DeKalb County Police took a woman into custody early Monday morning in connection with the shooting death of her husband.
The gunfire rang out inside a home at around 1:30 p.m. on Edenberry Way near Lithonia. Arriving officers found a man who had been shot. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital, but he didn't survive.
Early Monday afternoon, police identified the dead man as 49-year-old Bruce Heyward.
In an email to FOX 5 News, Police Public Information Officer Jacques Spencer said officers took the victim’s wife, 45-year-old Aimee Heyward, into custody.
Spencer said charges are pending against the wife.
Police at the scene called the shooting an apparent domestic situation. They told FOX 5’s Marc Teichner a teenage girl who inside the home at the time of the shooting was being questioned by detectives as they try to determine what led up to the shooting.
A police dog found a weapon in the backyard.
Detectives said police have responded to the home multiple times on previous domestic calls.
