Police: Man tried to shoot victim while shoplifting
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - Police in Gwinnett County have arrested a man they say shoplifted over $1,500 in merchandise at a Home Depot and threatened shoppers with a gun.
Officials say on Sept. 5, 37-year-old Antonio Tyrone McClure stole the merchandise at a Home Depot on the 800 block of Lawrenceville-Suwannee Road.
When bystanders tried to intervene, police say he pointed a firearm at them, going so far as to allegedly striking one bystander in the head with the gun.
An investigation led police to identify the suspect as McClure and eventually traced him to the Oak Tree Villas apartment complex in DeKalb County.
Wednesday morning at 6, officers took McClure into custody. He's been transported to the Gwinnett County Jail, where he’s being held with no bond.
