Police: Passengers killed man giving them a ride
LAGRANGE, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Troup County police are searching for two suspects they say are responsible for shooting a man who was a doing a good deed and helping them out.
Investigators say James Ponder gave the two unknown men a ride in an area near Troup Street in LaGrange Saturday.
While, driving, police say the pair attempted to rob Ponder – shooting him and then running away.
Another passenger in the car drove Ponder to a nearby hospital where he later died.
Police are now working with that passenger to get a description of the suspects.
