Police reopen 38-year-old missing person case

ATLANTA - It was a cold case nearly four decades old with renewed hopes of ending a mother's nightmare.

It started back in 1978 when someone kidnapped Donna Greens baby boy, Raymond.

"I never thought anything like that would happen to me, so someone doing something like that," said Green.

The ordeal when Donna Green met a woman at the maternity ward of Grady Memorial Hospital who claimed she was there to see her sister's new baby.

"And she befriended me in the hospital came to see me when I was there and when I went home she asked for a ride so they dropped me off first," said Green.

That ride home later led to the woman showing up at Ms. Greens apartment. She told FOX 5 News her infant son, Raymond, was kidnapped while she took a shower and her brother fell asleep.

"She showed up at my house a few days later and when she had an opportunity she took the baby," said Green.

Fast forward to 2017 and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation composites of what Raymond may look like today and as a young child.

Atlanta police said new technologies and methods of creating 'aged' composites also led to a sketch of the kidnapper when she took the baby and what she would look like today

"We're releasing pictures that we think might help solve this case. Somebody might recognize these pictures and recognize this person called Raymond. Help Raymond get back home to his mother Miss Green," said Sgt. Warren Pickard.

It's a wish long overdue for Donna Green who knows what she would say to her long lost son, Raymond.

"I love you glad you are home, yeah," said Green.

Atlanta police ask anyone with knowledge of Raymond or his kidnapper to give them a call.
