Police: Man charged with rape claims he was sleepwalking
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - A Lawrenceville man has been charged with rape, but the claims he made to police are making national headlines.
Ricardo Arturo Cole, Sr., 54, tried to have sex with his son’s girlfriend, according to a police report. Investigators said Cole claimed he was sleepwalking.
The police report states the victim reported to police she was sleeping at her boyfriend’s home when she felt someone get into bed with her. She told officers he rolled down her pant and attempted to have sex with her, the document states.
The victim initially thought it was her boyfriend, but then turned over and realized it was not him.
Police said the incident happened April 8, but the victim did not file a report until May 11.
Cole remained at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond Friday evening.
