Police: Robber fires shots, demands money, ends up in shootout
ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Scary moments at a fast-food restaurant in DeKalb County Thursday afternoon as police said an armed robber opens fire while demanding money.
It happened around 5 p.m. at the Mrs. Winner Chicken and Biscuits located in the 4400 block of Glenwood Avenue at the corner of Austin Drive. DeKalb County Police said the suspect enter the business and fired shots at customers and employees inside, demanding cash.
A nearby store owner heard the shots, went to the scene, and confronted the suspect as he was leaving, police said. A shootout occurred between the two.
The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle parked outside.
No one was injured at the scene. It was not immediately clear if the gunman was injured in the exchange of gunfire.
Police said the dangerous robber got away with an unknown amount of cash.
A description of the car or the suspect were not immediately available.
The name of the store owner has not been released.
