Police: UPS worker killed in loading dock accident

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A UPS worker was killed Friday in DeKalb County after police said he was struck by an 18-wheeler.

It happened at the loading dock of the UPS center located in the 3900 block of Pleasantdale Road a little before 3 p.m. DeKalb County Police said the victim, who was 48, stepped off the dock and was standing on the ground between the dock door and the trailer as the truck was backing up.

Police said the driver did not feel an impact and didn’t realize anyone was struck until after the incident.

The worker was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition, but he later died.

Their name has not yet been released.
