Police warn of garage thieves
SOUTH FULTON, Ga. - Authorities warn residents of thieves who target homes with open garage doors, and South Fulton Police released surveillance video through Crime Stoppers of two crimes that happened in one week.
Police said the latest crime occurred July 28 off Demeter Drive in the Camden Manor community. Video shows a garage door wide open, and police said a thief pulled up in what could be a Black Infiniti and rifled through the victim's car. The victim said the thief took off with his shoes.
South Fulton Police said in a different incident on July 22, surveillance showed a black Infiniti pulling up to a driveway of a home on Aussie View, and a thief went into the homeowner's garage and stole the vehicle inside.
No word if the suspects were responsible for both crimes or others.
Authorities warn people in any jurisdiction that people who leave their garage doors open are an easy target for criminals.
"There are predators out there looking for us. They're expecting us to be comfortable," said one concerned neighbor.
Anyone with information is asked to call police in the City of South Fulton or Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-TIPS.
