Reality Winner pleads guilty for leaking classified documents
AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Georgia woman accused of leaking information about Russian hacking of state election systems is pleaded guilty on Tuesday.
Reality Winner has been in jail near Augusta for more than a year. She's charged with violating the espionage act.
When Winner was arrested, she was working as a contractor for the NSA. Federal prosecutors said Winner admitted to smuggling classified documents out of the Augusta NSA office by stuffing them in her pantyhose. Investigators said Winner leaked information about Russian hacking of state election systems leading up to the 2016 presidential election.
Federal court records show a plead deal intent was entered last week.
She will be sentenced at a later date.
