Sheriff: Gainesville man arrested for rape at party

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Hall County deputies have arrested a Gainesville man, saying that he sexually assaulted an acquaintance at a party.

Officials with the Hall County Sheriff's Office told FOX 5 the sexual assault happened at a party at a home on the 3000 block of 3000 block of Poplar Springs Road on Oct. 22, 2017. 

Investigators obtained warrants for 20-year-old Jose Alfredo Vital's arrest after receiving test results from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation about the case.

Vital and the victim, a 21-year-old female victim, knew each other before the assault, the sheriff said. 

Deputies arrested Vital and charged him with rape and aggravated sodomy at his home on the 3200 block of Joe Chandler Road.

Vital is booked at the Hall County Jail without bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
