Skull, bones found in suitcase along I-75 in Butts County

BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. - The Butts County Sheriff’s Office said human remains have been found in a suitcase along Interstate 75 Thursday afternoon.

The remains were found at Mile Marker 203 near Harkness and Colwell roads around 1:45 p.m. Butts County deputies said a skull along with several bones were found inside the suitcase.

Deputies said a man discovered the suitcase just off the interstate in the woods as the motorist was searching for a lost item. Investigators believe the suitcase had been there for some time and was not left there recently.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was asked to assist in the investigation.
