Swift water rescue teams train at Six Flags over Georgia
AUSTELL, Ga. - Several metro Atlanta fire departments gathered at Six Flags over Georgia Thursday, but not to spend the day on roller coasters.
Firefighters used the water ride "Thunder River" for swift water rescue training.
The three-day training exercise was designed to prepare first responders for the busy summer season.
Organizers said the rapid water used for "Thunder River" is an excellent example of basic river dynamics and is conveniently offered at just one location.
Not only did firefighters train for swift river rescue but also for flood rescue situations.
