Two teens hurt in triple shooting cited for curfew violations
ATLANTA - Atlanta Police were busy Tuesday searching for the person who shot three teenagers at a Fairburn Road apartment complex.
Investigators said around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, multiple people were shot in the parking lot of the Providence at Cascade complex along Fairburn Road in southwest Atlanta. Responding officers found a 14-year-old who had been shot in the lower back, and a 19-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds to the hip and leg. Both victims were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Officers later learned that a family member took a 15-year-old to Grady Memorial Hospital after being shot in the right arm and buttocks. The victim was also listed in stable condition.
Investigators said the shooting was a result of an ongoing conflict involving another resident at the apartment complex.
The mother of the 15-year-old told FOX 5 News at Grady Memorial Hospital that her son was not involved in the argument, but was shot. She was also upset because police gave her and her son curfew citation.
"The 14-year-old, as well as the 15-year-old, as well as myself received a ticket for curfew. Atlanta Police chose to charge them while we are in here trying to get him well and see what is going on," the mom said.
Atlanta Police told FOX 5 News anyone 16 years old and younger should be at home if they are not accompanied by an adult after 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and after midnight on Friday and Saturday.
Police have handed out 49 curfew citations citywide this year. One apartment resident we talked with agreed.
"There should be a curfew for teenagers and small children, " an emphatic Lumpsie W. Cover said.
Officers aren't getting much help from people living in the complex and said they don't have any information about possible suspected gunmen who are still on the streets.
