Tractor-trailer fire, massive pileup on I-20 in Newton County

NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. - Traffic was at a standstill in Newton County late Tuesday night after a tractor-trailer fire and a massive pileup.

All lanes on Interstate 20 were blocked at Almon Road. That is located between Covington and Porterdale.

Witnesses said the truck fire actually happened first in the westbound lanes and then a reported at least a 7-car pileup happened seconds later in the eastbound lanes.

Georgia State Patrol told FOX 5 News five people were hurt in the eastbound lane crashes.
